THE HALL FARM. This property belonged to Mr. Leland Alexandria, who sold it to Mr. Waters, who in turn sold it to Mr. J. W. Hall and his heirs still own it. The Waters home stood close to the road, Just at the end of the lane that leads up to the Hall home. Mr. Hall tore this home down, and built the one now standing opposite Mrs. Bell Dippold's home. THE HILL FARM. This extended to the Economy line and is the southern boundary of Baden. Mr. Hill sold the Ehman farm to Mr. Ehman at the close of the Civil War. A section of his land he sold to Mr. Logan, for whom a station on the railroad was named. It stood just at the end of the lane leading past the old Hill cemetery. Practically all of my ancestors are buried there. Grandpap Hill was one of the best loved men by the younger men of Baden. Everyone liked "Pappie Hill." He left a long line of his descendants throughout the valley. Mr. Ehman was a gardener, and raised vegetables which he sold in the Pittsburgh market. He at one time owned the property where the original McCann store now stands on Market Street in Pittsburgh, which he sold when he came to Baden. Bryan INDIAN LOREThere is no flint rockin Beaver County, the nearest being at Red Bank on the allegheny River, a point of rock where the creek joins the river. This is known to have been Indian "Neutral Ground" as also were the salt licks in Ohio and farther south, so that all the tribes could supply their living needs without fear of attack. The theory is that the Indians brought the flint rock to the tent of the arrow maker, who sat at a point of vantage wher he could look both up and down the river whilehe worked. Interesting bits of pottery were found on the island opposite Baden, as late as the eighties. it is assumed that
