James Musgrave was the Class Leader at the beginning and for many years.

Charter. On June 5, 1861, the Court of common Pleas of Beaver County granted a charter to the Sover Chapel Methodist Episcopal Church of Baden. The voting power was limited to male members 21 years of age or over; five trustees were to be elected annually of the first Wednesday in May; sale or mortgage of property must first be authorized by the male members of voting age; and the property of the Corporation is to be held in trust.... "in accordance with the discipline and usages of Methodist Episcipal Church." The trustees approved by the Court until an election should be held were: James Musgrave, William Cole, Reuben Hendrickson, William Rea, and N. P. Kerr, Jr.

This charter was amended December 19, 1921, by extending the voting power to all members 21 years old or older; changing the name to Baden Methodist Episcopal Church, and requiring in addition the consent of the District Superintendent for the sale or mortgage of the property.

Buildings. The first church building was erected on Lot No. 71 in the Christian Burkhart Plan- a lot described as "bounded on the East by state Street, 50 feet; on the south by Phillips Street, 120 feet; on the West by Sycamore Alley, 50 feet." The building was a one-room, frame structure, 32x40 feet, costing approximately nine thousand dollars, much of the labor and material being donated. It was "dedicated to the worship of God on September 19,1858, by Rev. D. P. Mitchell, the presiding elder of the district, assisted by the pastor, Rev. Thomas Storer, and Rev. D. A. McCready, Samuel Crouse, and others." This building served its purpose until July, 1906, when the property was sold for $1,400. The building remodeled, still stands and is in use as an office and dwelling at this date, 1938.
